Product Details:

Pipes passing through concrete will not bond to the concrete and water can pass along the external surface of the pipe. Flexseal Puddle Flanges act as a barrier to this flow. The seal is clamped onto the pipes and stops this direct route. The seal body is compressed during the pouring process and should the concrete shrink during curing the rubber relaxes and maintains a seal against this flow path.

Flexseal Puddle Flanges provide an effective solution against water penetration along the external surface of pipes that pass through concrete structures such as tanks, manhole chambers, shafts, floor slabs and basements.

Weld-Neck flanges or welding-neck flanges can be differentiated from all other types of flange by their long tapered hub. In addition, there is also a gentle transition of thickness in the region of the butt weld that joins them to pipe or a fitting. Weld-Neck flanges or welding-neck flanges are best suited for severe service conditions, whether loading conditions are substantially constant or fluctuate between wide limits. Weld Neck Flanges are flanges with the wall thickness of the flange having the same dimensions of the matching pipe, the lighter the pipe is, the larger the bore, conversely, the heavier the pipe, the smaller the bore, they are normally used for high pressure, cold or hot temperature.

Slip-On flanges or SO flanges are commonly lower in price than weld-neck flanges, and to this effect are popular choices for our customers. However, customers should bear in mind that this initial cost saving may be diminished by the additional cost of the two fillet welds required for proper installation. Moreover, weld-neck flanges have a higher life expectancy than slip-on flanges under duress. The slip-on flange is positioned so the inserted end of the pipe or fitting is set short of the flange face by the thickness of the pipe wall plus 1/8 of an inch, which thus allows for a fillet weld inside the SO flange equal without doing any damage to the flange face. The back or outside of the slip-on flange or SO flange is also welded with a fillet weld.

It is Slip on Raised Face (SORF) Flange.

Slip-on (SO) Flanges are preferred by some contractors, over the Weld-neck, because of the lower initial cost. However, this may be offset by the added cost of the two fillet welds required for proper installation. The strength of the slip-on flange is ample for it's rating, but its life under fatigue conditions is considered to be only one-third that of the weld-neck flange.

The slip-on flange may be attached to the end of a piece of pipe or to one or more ends of a pipe fitting. The slip-on flange is positioned so the inserted end of the pipe or fitting is set back or short of the flange face by the thickness of the pipe wall plus 1/8 of an inch. This allows for a fillet weld inside the SO flange equal to the thickness of the pipe without doing any damage to the flange face. The back or outside of the flange is also welded with a fillet weld.

A variation of the Slip-on flange also exists. This is the Slip-on Reducing Flange. This is simply a larger (say a 14") Slip-on flange blank that, instead of the Center (pipe) hole being cut out (or drilled out) for 14" pipe it is cut out for a 6" pipe. The SO Reducing flange is basically used for reducing the line size where space limitations will not allow the length of a weld neck flange and reducer combination. The use of the Slip-on Reducing Flange should only be used where the flow direction is from the smaller size into the larger size.

The weld neck flange derives its name from the neck portion of the flange that is welded to the end of a piping system. Weld Neck Flanges have a long tapered hub and are often used for high pressure applications. It is designed to transfer stress to the pipe, thereby reducing high stress concentrations at the base of the flange. Weld Neck flanges are costlier due to their design and engineering, and increased material

The three most common types of facings for weld neck flanges are raised face (most common), flat face, and ring type joint (RTJ). When ordering a weld neck flange, it is important to specify the schedule pipe is being used for. This is because the inside diameter of the flange will match the inside diameter of your pipe. The butt-weld joint this flange has with the pipe along with the tapered hub, makes this flange very resistant to dishing and a very sturdy connection. These pipe flanges attach by welding the pipe to the neck of the flange. This transfers stress from the flange to the pipe instead. It also reduces the stress concentration from the base of the hub. Weld neck flanges are often used for applications where high pressure is a factor. The inside diameter of the flange is designed to match the pipe's inside diameter. Threaded joints probably represent the oldest method of joining piping systems. Like Socket Weld fittings, threaded fittings are mainly used for small pipe diameters (Small Bore Piping); generally for piping whose nominal diameter is NPS 2 or smaller.
The dimensional standards for taper pipe threads are given in ASME B1.20.1. That document gives all required dimensions including number of threads per inch, pitch diameter, and normal engagement lengths for all pipe diameters.

• Threaded piping is commonly used in low-cost, noncritical applications such as domestic water, fire protection, and industrial cooling water systems.
• Threaded fittings are normally made of cast gray or malleable iron, cast brass or bronze, or forged alloy and carbon steel.
• They are available in three pressure ratings: Class 2000, 3000 and 6000.
