ZENHARD has excellent spring properties, uniform hardness and texture, ZENHARD has precision blanking ability and rationalizes further processing by eliminating post heat treatment & distortion and thereby increases productivity.

Walzen Strips Pvt. Ltd. manufactures ZENHARD, Hardened & Tempered Steel Strips, conforming to National and International Standards viz, IS: 2507, DIN 17222. BS: 1449, ASTM A-682 Medium & High Carbon and Low Alloy steel strips, cold rolled in-house, are heat-treated in continuous line to develop high hardness, toughness, tensile and spring properties.
Steps involved for manufacture of Hardened & Tempered Steel strips:

Hardening & Tempering:
Austenitizing of Medium & High Carbon and Low Alloy steels is carried out in 12 M long gas fired furnace with automatic controls and heat resistant S.S. Muffle to provide inert cover to the strips. Quenchingl in oil produces very hard martensite, which is then tempered down in a 7 M long electrically heated tempering furnace. Variable speed DC drive with UPS back-up ensures uninterrupted processing even during power failure.

Edge Rounding:
Rounding of one or both edges is essential for certain applications requiring high fatigue life. This is done by machining of edges with profiled carbide tips.

Grinding:
During hardening and tempering the strip surface gets oxidized, developing a Blue-grey finish. But in many application the strips are required in Bright finish. This is obtained by grinding the surfaces with waterproof-coated abrasive belts in a grinding machine with coolant flow.

HAYNES® 625SQ® alloy (UNS N06626) is a solid-solution strengthened superalloy. It is a modification of HAYNES® 625 alloy developed to enhance resistance to fatigue at temperatures up to approximately 1200°F (649°C). The alloy composition is tightly controlled to very low levels of carbon, silicon, and nitrogen.

Primary melting is by vacuum induction melting, followed by consumable electrode practice using electroslag remelting. During processing, the grain size is controlled to ASTM #5 or finer.

HAYNES® 625SQ® alloy is readily fabricated and welded using practices common to HAYNES® 625 alloy. 625SQ® alloy sheet and strip find application in aerospace, automotive, and chemical process industry bellow, expansion joints, and fabrications where fatigue resistance, strength, and corrosion resistance are required.

Alloy 321 (UNS S32100) is titanium stabilized austenitic stainless steel plate with good general corrosion resistance. It has excellent resistance to intergranullar corrosion after exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 800 - 1500°F (427 - 816°C). The alloy resists oxidation to 1500°F (816°C) and has higher creep and stress rupture properties than alloys 304 and 304L. It also possesses good low-temperature toughness.

Alloy 321H (UNS S 32109) stainless steel plate is the higher carbon (0.04 - 0.10) version of the alloy. It was developed for enhanced creep resistance and for higher strength at temperatures above 1000oF (537°C). In most instances, the carbon content of the plate enables dual certification.

 

• Alloy 321 stainless steel plates cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working. It can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices

Nextgen Steel & Alloys - Grade 3CR12 stainless steel is a low-cost grade chromium, containing stainless steel fabricated by modifying the properties of grade 409 steel. It resists mild corrosion and wet abrasion. It was originally developed by Columbus Stainless, which designated the registered trademark “3CR12”. Other designations of this grade include UNS S40977/S41003 and 1.4003.

Other designations that are equivalent to grade 3CR12 include ASME SA240 grades, ASTM A240/A240M grades and EN 10088.2. However, grade 1.4003 is also covered in EN 10028.7, which constitutes pressure-purpose stainless steels.

The following section will provide the key properties of grade 3CR12 stainless steel coil, sheet and plate, covered under Euronorm S41003, S40977, ASTM A240/A240M and EN 10088.2 1.4003. 3CR12 is a chromium containing corrosion resisting ferritic steel developed as an alternative material of construction where the mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and fabrication requirements of other materials such as mild steel, galvanised or aluminised steel, aluminium or pre-painted steels are unsuited.

Nextgen Steel & Alloys  - Originally 3CR12 was not included in any international specifications. However, a 12 per cent chromium steel developed from 3CR12 has been designated DIN type 1,4003 and ASTM/ASME 41003. The former has been incorporated into two Euronorm Standards viz. EN 10088 and EN 10028, 3CR12 conforms to the requirements of the above specifications and is multi certifiable to 3CR12, 1.4003 and 41003, due to its inclusion in the above specifications. 3CR12 vessels and tanks can be designed in accordance to BS5500, ASME, AD Merkblatter codes and the Euronorm design specification currently in preparation.

Because it does not depend on alloying elements nickel and molybdenum to lend their stainless properties, 3CR12 offers a cost advantage compared to other corrosion-resisting stainless steels. It also can reduce your product costs through the elimination of protective treatments and corrosion allowances. NEXTGEN STEEL & ALLOYS - Grade 3CR12 stainless steels exhibit scaling resistance between 600 and 750°C in the presence of air, and between 450 and 600°C under stress environments. Grade 3CR12 stainless steels are annealed at temperatures ranging from 700 to 750°C, divided into 25 mm section, and each section is soaked for 1½ h. The material is then allowed to cool. Care should be taken to prevent hardening during heat treatment. The mechanical properties and corrosion resistance characteristics of this grade can be affected by quenching treatments. Welding methods used for austenitic stainless steels can be applied to grade 3CR12 stainless steels. Low heat input techniques, such as GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG), can be considered. During welding, grade 309 filler wire, pre-qualified by AS 1554.6, is preferred. However, grade 308L, 316L, 309Mo and 309L wires have also been employed in many cases. Any discoloration in the welded product can be removed using backing gases, or techniques such as purging and pickling.Grade 3CR12 stainless steel plates can be obtained in standard, hot-rolled annealed and pickled (HRAP) finish, and coils are available in 2B or 2D finish. Black finish can also be produced by hot-rolling the material, leaving behind a dark oxidized surface on the steel. Grade 3CR12 with black finish has a good corrosion resistance and low friction and, hence, it is suitable for different wear applications.

It is the combination of high contents of chrome, nickel, molybdenium and cupper which gives the steel the good resistance against uniform corrosion. GENERAL DESCRIPTION These grades of steel are intended for structural work where no significant forming or bending must be done. These grades can be bolted, riveted and welded in a full range of structural and fabricated items including bridges, box girders, cranes and other general structural projects. The grade designations of SANS 50025 / EN10025-2 refer to the minimum yield strength of each grade for thicknesses less than or equal to 16mm. TOLERANCES Material 6mm and thicker produced at the plate mill is supplied with dimensional tolerances in accordance with EN 10029. If not specified, tolerances will be according to “Class A”. SURFACE INSPECTION All plates manufactured through the plate mill are inspected and defects repaired in accordance with EN 10163-2: 1991 Class A Subclass 1, unless otherwise agreed.
ULTRASONIC TESTING If specified at the time of order, ultrasonic testing shall be carried out in thickness ≥6,00mm in accordance with EN 10160.
